What is the group?

The Montesanto Tavares Group (GMT), is a Brazilian holding company with operations in all stages of the coffee chain, from the production of coffees to the commercialization of blends abroad with operations in more than 60 countries.

The GMT companies, Atlantica Coffee, Armazém Atlantica, Ally Coffee, Cafebras, Armazéns Leste de Minas and GMT Farms farms are located in the Americas, Asia and Europe with operations on all continents.

The coffees commercialized by the GMT tradings are originated from large, medium and small coffee growers of Arabica coffee, which strengthens family farming and values ​​coffee growers. In addition, the trading companies trade part of the production of GMT farms.

What does the group do?

Montesanto Tavares Group companies operate in all phases of coffee production, guaranteeing the high quality standards of the harvested beans. In addition, the group has been optimizing production capacity, which today is 70,000 bags of coffee weighing 60 kilograms each, to 120,000 bags by 2020.

The GMT is increasingly aware of movements in the coffee supply chain and new challenges for the future of global coffee farming. The search for being genuinely sustainable is one of the ways that GMT companies believe and invest in coffee by aligning social, environmental and economic requirements.

Currently, the Montesanto Tavares Group has three trading companies, two of which are exporters, Atlantica Coffee and Cafebras, and one importer, Ally Coffee, present in the United States, Asia, Africa and Europe.

GMT Farms

The Montesanto Tavares Group has its 4 own farms, located in the states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, and expanding. These farms have as main focus the production of specialty coffee, and the main varieties grown are Topázio, Arara, Catuai’s, Geisha and Bourbon Amarelo. In addition to coffee activities, some farms also cultivate African Mahogany, and sometimes produce in consortium with coffee.

Instituto Café Solidário

Part of the profit of the GMT companies is reverted to Instituto Café Solidário, a project focused on the social and cultural development of children, adolescents and the elderly. Currently, the project contributes to improve the social and cultural conditions of 195 people:

✓ 154 children and adolescents in Buritizeiro, MG, Brazil

✓ 26 elderly people in Santa Luzia, Minas Gerais

✓ 15 local teachers

✓ 324 meals served daily

✓ Cultural workshops (plastic arts, music, fashion, sewing, theater, literature, etc)

✓ Preparatory courses (English, Portuguese, mathematics and computer science)

✓ Defending the rights of children and adolescents

Throughout its history, the holding company has expanded its green coffee operations worldwide. The group has become an international reference in the export and import of Arabica coffee in green beans. Currently, coffees can be found in more than 60 (sixty) countries on all continents.
